{TEACHING PHILOSOPHY}

Kathryn Beth Adams Designer, Artist & Educator
As an Interior Designer, Artist and Educator, I fundamentally embrace the knowledge that Art & Design shape our world. My goal is that my students will learn to discover themselves through art making and will learn to make deliberate choices to communicate who they are by providing all my students with appropriate, safe, and meaningful art experiences.
Through art making students develop their own individual styles. This allows them to mature emotionally, intellectually, and socially. I strive to provide inquiry-based and context-based art learning experiences, while providing the foundations of the principles and elements of design.
I encourage critical thinking and an environment where students feel safe. I encourage peer sharing and reflections and will provide constructive feed back and evaluations based on students own reflective thinking.
I encourage them to document and reflect on their amazing process. I engage them to realize that critical thinking, quality and craftsmanship all contribute to the effectiveness of the work.
I collaborate with other professionals to develop lessons to provide each child with the resources he/she may need to achieve their goals.
I also collaborate with my peers to design interdisciplinary lessons that will allow association between the studentsʼ academic and global views. I aim to expand my studentsʼ perspective and involvement in both the local and global community to stimulate a personal understanding of culture. I incorporate current technology and media into my curriculum, so that continuous learning is easily accessible beyond the classroom environment. I challenge myself to accommodate all learners at all levels so that each child is able to achieve their fullest potential.
Art has always inspired me and led me on my lifeʼs path. As a designer and artist I value the impact that great design has on our world. My hope is that each student will gain valuable life lessons and make their own contributions to the art of our everyday experiences.
